President Tsai announces expanding Paraguay beef quota / 蔡訪巴拉圭宣布逐步增加牛肉進口配額

President Tsai is visited Paraguay, and shortly after the morning of June 28, Tsai joined a bilateral meeting with Paraguayan President Cartes. President Tsai stated that she will expand the quota for Paraguayan beef and double the number of scholarships offered to Paraguayan students. In response, Cartes reiterated his firm support for Taiwan to participate in international organizations. President Cartes of Paraguay hosts a military salute to welcome President Tsai Ing-wen, President Cartes offers her Paraguay's highest honor "Collar Mariscal Francisco Solano Lopez." The two held a bilateral talk. President Cartes inaugurated in 2013, and had spoken for Taiwan in the UN Assembly for three years. President Cartes says his supports to Taiwan will not change. ==HORACIO CARTES, President of Paraguay== At this solemn occasion, I want to re-emphasize my firm support to Republic of China, Taiwan, fully participate in international society and international organization. Although Taiwan government wants to sign Free Trade Agreement with Paraguay, however, Paraguay is restricted by other member nations in Mercosur. President Tsai hopes there would be a new chance to accomplish. ==TSAI ING-WEN, President of Taiwan== Our two nations can collaborate via both official and private sectors, We work together to step forward for Mercosur, and form a base to enter Asia markets, establishing relations of mutual helps and benefits. ==TIM CHANG, PTS reporter== After meeting with President Cartes, President Tsai delivered her speech at the Congress, make emphasis on stabilizing the diplomatic relations between the two nations. ==TSAI ING-WEN, President of Taiwan== Under quarantine and inspection, we will gradually increase the beef imports quota for Paraguay. I also want to announce the number of Taiwan scholarship will be increased from 14 to 28 students. They will become civil friendship ambassadors for our two nations. President Tsai received warm welcome from the Speaker and Members of Congress. Tsai also inaugurated ROC embassy in Paraguay. Taiwan's diplomatic relations with Paraguay will be on its 60th anniversary next year. Tsai is the third president of Taiwan visiting Paraguay. She sincerely hopes to expand both economic and technology interchanges, fortifying relationship.
