Taichung Mayor Requests Leave of Absence 盧秀燕今起請假參選 蔡其昌持續掃基層

Taichung City Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, who is seeking reelection, requested a leave of absence starting on Nov. 10 to dedicate herself to her campaign. Meanwhile, DPP candidate Tsai Chi-chang said he will continue going everywhere around the city and use sincerity to appeal to voters.

Supporters shout out their support for Lu Shiow-yen's reelection. Lu, the incumbent Taichung City mayor who is seeking reelection as the KMT's candidate, requested a leave of absence from the city government on Nov. 10 to dedicate herself to her reelection campaign. During a stop at a temple, she listed the city's epidemic prevention achievements during the past three years and mentioned how the childbirth allowance has been raised to NT$20,000.

Lu Shiow-yen, KMT Taichung City Mayoral Candidate: “We will continue working until the very last minute. However, as only half a month remains before the elections, I really needed to set aside the work at hand and dedicate myself to this campaign. I hope residents and friends will support and reelect me so that I can continue to protect Taichung.”

Meanwhile, DPP candidate Tsai Chi-chang headed to a market and spent time shaking hands. He said Taichung needs an active mayor, and he intends to go everywhere in the city to campaign as well as give over 1,000 speeches to explain his political vision to voters and how he will change Taichung.

Tsai Chi-chang, DPP Taichung City Mayoral Candidate: “Residents will elect a person who can be active, who went everywhere during the election campaign, who is capable of promoting a vision, and who can make changes to Taichung. I think we'll give over 1,000 speeches as the election campaign concludes.”

Tsai also found time to criticize Lu's leave of absence as a show and accused her of using the city government as her campaign headquarters and its resources for personal gain for many months. Lu responded that 99 percent of functionaries are carrying out their official duties and observing the law and asked Tsai not to falsely accuse city employees to gain votes.

 

支持者高喊當選，九合一大選進入最後半個月，爭取連任的國民黨台中市長盧秀燕，10日正式向市府請假投入選戰，上午來到北區拜廟宣示起跑。她細數台中在過去3年防疫表現傑出、以及生育補助提升到2萬的政績，期盼市民能夠大力支持。

國民黨台中市長候選人盧秀燕表示：「堅持我們的市政工作，堅持到最後一分鐘。不過呢，隨著選戰逼近，只剩下半個月，也真的必須放下手頭的工作，來從事這個競選工作。希望我們的市民朋友大力支持我能夠競選連任成功，繼續守護我們台中。」

來到傳統市場緊握每一雙手，蔡其昌則保持原有競選步調掃街。他強調，台中需要一位有行動力的市長，這場選戰不但會跑遍大街小巷，還會舉辦超過1000場的演講，向民眾說明政治願景，主打為台中帶來改變。

民進黨台中市長候選人蔡其昌說：「市民還是會選出一個有行動能力，在選戰過程裡面跑遍大街小巷，能夠訴求願景、能夠帶來台中改變的人。所以我想我們到選戰結束，應該超過1000場的演講。」

蔡其昌批評盧秀燕請假是假象，早已把市政府當成競選總部來打選戰，公器私用已經好幾個月；盧秀燕則強調，99%的公務員都奉公守法，不要因為選戰而牽連公務員。選舉日將近，台中選戰也逐漸加溫。
