Military Reports Chinese Military Drone Sighting 無人機又擾台 國防部首揭示型號BZK-007

The Ministry of National Defense announced that it recorded 17 Chinese aircraft and four Chinese naval vessels operating around Taiwan on Sept. 5 alone. The military also reported on the flight path of a Chinese drone for the first time.

Chinese civilian drones have been frequently spotted in the skies above Kinmen and other outlying islands as of late. On Sept. 5, the Ministry of National Defense said it had recorded 17 Chinese aircraft on scouting missions as of 5 p.m., and nine of them crossed the Taiwan Strait's median line and entered Taiwan's southwest ADIZ. One of the 17 aircraft was a BZK-007 drone. A day earlier, the military had announced the sighting of a Chinese drone for the first time in its briefing. On Sept. 5, it announced the model of the drone and its flight path for the first time.

Su Tzu-yun, Director, Div. of Defense Strategy & Resources, INDSR: “(China)'s purpose is probably to combine its air and naval forces when the time comes to conduct field reconnaissance. This is training for one of its main tactics.”

Military experts say intrusions of Chinese civilian and military drones in Taiwan's airspace are considered quasi-military operations and are meant to generate psychological fear. This is one of the main aims of China's gray zone tactics. A DPP legislator said the level of countermeasures against Chinese military drones and civilian drones are different.

Lin Chun-hsien, Legislator (DPP): “If military drones are the ones invading, they will be flying faster and higher. If there are military drones invading our territorial airspace, then of course we can use anti-aircraft defense systems and anti-aircraft defense missiles to hit them.”

In 2019, the Executive Yuan ordered large airports to set up anti-drone systems. Zero progress has been made in Taoyuan International Airport's system in three years. It intends to use a system developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and currently in use at Taipei Songshan Airport, but the system's acceptance criteria are extremely low and there are concerns it won't be able to handle related threats.

就在中共民用無人機接連侵擾金門等外島之際，國防部5日表示，截至當天下午5點為止偵獲共機17架次，其中逾越海峽中線及其延伸線進入西南空域9架次，值得注意的是，擾台共機包括1架BZK-007無人機，這也是國防部繼4日首度披露無人機1架次現蹤後，進一步揭示無人機型號和其航跡。

國防院國防戰略與資源研究所所長蘇紫雲表示：「它（中國）的用意，大概就是說在必要時候，聯合海空軍的航空兵力進行戰場的偵蒐，這是它主要戰術上的訓練。」

軍事專家表示，中共民用和軍用無人機襲擾我周邊空域，都屬於準軍事行動，造成對方內部心理上的威懾這是中國遊走在灰色地帶的主要目的。民進黨立委林俊憲則說，我方反制中共軍用無人機和民用無人機的防制層級不同。

林俊憲表示：「如果是軍用的無人機入，速度更快飛得更高，若是軍用無人機帶有入侵領空的話，當然是有防空系統、防空飛彈，那個是可以去打他們。」

此外，針對行政院在2019年核定要求國內各大機場建置無人機防制系統，林俊憲痛批，桃園機場建置案原地打轉3年毫無進步，並打算比照松山機場已使用的中科院系統建置，但松山的系統在驗收測試標準極低，擔憂無法因應相關威脅。
