Goodwill club train stamina with pistol squats 今年國慶親善服務隊  五所大學入選

Members from five universities are chosen as the ushers in the National Day ceremony. They have special training to convey smiling "with their eyes"  as the mask mandate prevails.

Presenter: Members of goodwill clubs from five universities will be helping out as ushers at the National Day celebrations. As everyone will have to keep their masks on, there is a special emphasis on "smiling with the eyes."

Members of National Taipei University's Goodwill Club brace their cores and perform pistol squats.

Lin Shen-chun, President, National Taipei University Goodwill Club:”Pistol squats train our posterior leg muscles, which is useful when we have to stand for a long time during ceremonies or other events.”

The 23 members of the club will be serving as ushers to the president, vice president, and their guests during the National Day celebrations. They are currently undergoing a 90-hour training program. As they will have to keep their masks on during the event, there is a special emphasis on "smiling with the eyes." 

Luo Chieh-ling, Vice President, National Taipei University Goodwill Club:”Although our guests can't see our smiles, we are smiling the entire time. Our eyes are smiling too. We make sure our eyes are smiling.”

Spanish-, German- and French-speaking members of the club will be taking care of dignitaries.

Chang Shih-wen, Member, National Taipei University Goodwill Club”My mother is Taiwanese and my father is British. I love learning languages, so I'm learning Spanish as well. Being trilingual allows me to better serve foreign dignitaries.”

The club was founded 15 years ago and has been asked to help at National Day celebrations for the past 10 years. The club welcomes anyone who wants to join, with a good attitude and enthusiasm being the only requirements.

收緊核心深蹲、單腳抬起向前行，台北大學親善團靠這招「螳螂走路」，反覆鍛練肌力。

台北大學親善團長 林珅郡：「單腳深蹲的同時，可以訓練到我們的腿後側肌群，讓我們在典禮久站，或是等等的情況都能可以很好的適應。」

要在國慶大典的主舞台區，服務總統副總統與外賓，可不能失態，23位入選團員，進行90小時的專案練習，由於今年因疫情得再度戴上口罩服務，特別加強「眼睛的微笑」。

台北大學親善團副團長 羅捷伶：「雖然賓客看不到我們的微笑，可是我們始終維持如一，所以笑容也是持續在的，所以相對的眼睛會著跟著笑，並且著重於眼睛的笑容。」

儀態要到位，不同國家的賓客需要協助時也得應對自如，這時候，有西語、德語和法語專長的團員派上用場。

台北大學親善團員 張釋文：「在家中的部分，母親是台灣人，爸爸是來自英國。我個人是非常喜歡學習語言，所以我同時學習西班牙文，我相信在這樣三種語言的環境下，我一定有更好的十足把握，去服務來自外國的貴賓。」

北大表示，親善團成立15年，第10度受國慶籌備會青睞，又在主舞台服務，是最高肯定！而每年收新團員，不設學業，身高體重等門檻，最看重態度與熱情，學生才會從集訓到大典上服務，留下難忘回憶。
