Fu Wan Chocolate Partners Sever Ties with Company "福灣"董座涉性騷 桂冠下架商品切割

Laurel Food became the first company to terminate its collaboration with Pingtung-based Fu Wan, as the head of the world champion chocolate maker was convicted of a sexual harrassment charge five years ago. In response, Fu Wan issued a long overdue apology, saying it respects these companies' decisions and it will bear the responsibility for losses.
Fu Wan Chocolate has won gold medals in the Asia-Pacific category at the International Chocolate Awards every year since 2017. Its brand recognition has soared since then, and it has worked with many well-known companies over the last few years. However, a netizen recently revealed the head of the company, surnamed Hsu, sexually harassed a female intern a few years ago.

The harassment took place five years ago. The victim was an intern at Fu Wan's farm. Hsu was sentenced to six months, which was commuted to a NT$180,000 fine. Then-Fu Wan CEO Hsu Hua-jen spoke out in support of his father and blamed the victim. Consumers immediately launched a "cancel" campaign against the company. On Nov. 27, Fu Wan released a statement of apology. The apology failed to appease consumers. On Dec. 7, Laurel Corp. became the first of Fu Wan's partners to sever ties with the company. Mr. Donut and Kuai Kuai followed suit. All of the companies are recalling products containing Fu Wan chocolate. Family Mart and Carrefour will stop carrying Fu Wan products as well. Fu Wan says it respects these companies' decisions and it will bear the responsibility for losses.
Sexual harassment doesn't just have a legal price. It will also result in public condemnation.

A women's group, meanwhile, says all this shows how important gender equality is in Taiwan but society should forgive perpetrators if they show remorse and change their ways. Pingtung cacao farmers, meanwhile, are worried about the damage to the reputation of Pingtung's cacao industry and the impact on their livelihoods.
2017年開始，福灣巧克力連續4年，獲得世界巧克力大賽亞太區金牌，就在聲望如日中天時，趁勢與多家知名品牌，推出聯名商品，但也被網友揭發，許姓董座性騷擾女實習生遭判刑，讓福灣面臨重大考驗。
福灣巧克力公關 陳小姐表示：「因為桂冠發了聲明，讓其他我們其他合作的廠牌，也開始變的很有壓力。那我們也都理解，我們願意承擔，廠商們在銷售上面的損失。」
5年前福灣許姓董座，曾性騷擾自家農場的女實習生，二審依意圖性騷擾罪，判刑6個月，得易科罰金18萬元，全案定讞。但當時執行長許華仁力挺父親，也遭批檢討被害者，引發民眾發起抵制潮。上個月27號，福灣巧克力雖發聲明道歉，但沒能平息眾怒。7號下午，桂冠開出第一槍，宣布停止開賣只有4天的巧克力湯圓。另外Mister Donut和乖乖，也緊接在後，表示已下架聯名商品。至於今年巧克力季，才跟福灣合作的全家便利商店，以及有進相關商品的家樂福，也同樣宣布下架。對此，福灣表示尊重，也強調會承擔各廠商銷售的損失。
高雄市婦女新知協會常務理事 彭渰雯表示：「性騷擾的行為，他的代價，可能不是只有法律判決。受到輿論，受到之後公民的譴責。」
屏東可可農民表示：「個人的行為，那無限上綱。一般消費大眾，對我們可可界的人，會產生一點點疑問。」
婦女團體表示，這件事件的發酵，也證明社會對性平事件的重視，但也強調如果加害者有檢討改過，外界也不必一昧打壓。但也有屏東可可小農擔心，遭事件延燒，衝擊屏東可可產業形象，影響生計。
