The anti-extradition bill protest in Hong Kong has lasted for over 100 days. It does not see any sign of receding despite Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam retracted the bill earlier. A group of people have made action figures that resembles anti-extradition protestors that may serve as historic remnants.
The action figures are dressed in black t-shirts and yellow jackets, wearing safety helmets, eye goggles and gas masks, they look exactly like those who took part in the anti-extradition bill protest. The toys are made with many details, at a scale of 1 to 20.
We are a group of action figure enthusiasts. I'm a designer myself, and I'm also in charge of photographing toys and action figures. The reason I made (these new action figures) is to bear witness to what happened in Hong Kong.
The anti-extradition bill protest in Hong Kong has lasted for over 100 days. After Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam retracted the bill earlier, some still carried on with the protest because not all five of these demands were met. The designer of the action figures wants to bear witness to the protest in Hong Kong.
These action figures represent the different participants in the protests, including those who are of different age and dress differently. We try to render their looks faithfully in our design.
The designer spent 2 months to make 6 unique stuffed toys that look like protestors and reporters. He said he is struck by seeing the youth standing on the frontline to fight for their future.
I can't help but wonder why has Hong Kong come to this? I'm quite sad about it and I hope the protest ends as soon as possible.
The designer said that instead of making judgment on the protest, he'd like to just bear witness to the history.
