As the pension reform goes on, public school teachers, military personnel, and public servants may no longer be the top career choices for many. This has prompted students and their parents to reconsider about what to study to get an edge in the future job market. On Jul 22, a two-day university fair was held to help high school students to choose their university. Outside the university fair, an anti-education commercialization group announced its "diploma mill" ranking, reminding high school students to make a smart choice.
Holding banners and shouting slogans, student groups protested outside a university fair, warning high school students to choose their university wisely.

In developed countries, the student- teacher ratio is 15.8. However, in Taiwan, it is mostly 20 or 30 something. These universities, and their presidents, should reflect first on whether they can achieve an international standard of student-teacher ratio, before calling on the government to let them raise the tuition.
The anti-education commercialization union rated 75 public and private universities in Taiwan and made a "diploma mill" list. Ranking factors included negative factors such as "high student-teacher ratio", "low dorm availability" and "cut in classes". Among the top ten in the list, half were private universities, and the other half were public universities. Shih Hsin University, Tamkang University and National Quemoy University made the top three. Shih Hsin University, ranked first in the list, said that its student-teacher ratio did follow government regulations.

We just finished the second round of our university's department evaluation last year. Shih Hsin University has 19 departments, 3 institutes and 4 colleges. All of them, inclusive of our programs, all conformed to the student-teacher ratio regulation.

Besides how many education resources a student can get, I think competitiveness is also an important point in choosing a university.
==HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT==
What I am concerned about the most is the courses offered. I don't think that it is a good idea for some universities to cut their classes. I believe that those who want to receive higher education all bear hope to learn things well.
When high school students were asked about whether the ranking list will affect their university choices, most of them said they will take it into consideration.
