Two Australian barbers transformed a trailer into a mobile barbershop, and are now giving haircuts to the homeless and the disadvantaged all over the north of Brisbane. Their goal is to give 1,000 free cuts by the end of this year. ==NS== Come on over. You're the very first customer. He was Hermi, a homeless man who lives out of his car in Brisbane, the third largest city in Australia. Mature. ==NS (shaver sound)== For barbers Teresa Reed and Danielle Hannah, helping others is a passion that they've now turned into a venture on wheels. The duo offers free haircuts to homeless and disadvantaged people as a move to bring dignity to those living rough. ==TERESA REED Jack Reed Barber Shop== People get that opportunity no matter who you are, to just kind of take 10, 15, 20 minutes out of your life to sit down and relax in a kind of authentic environment where you're just like everybody else and when you walk out you feel a bit better about yourself People may feel embarrassed to walk in at first, but the hairdressers say it will be a rewarding experience. ==TERESA REED Jack Reed Barber Shop== You'll be treated just like everybody else and it's got air con, it's got the old retro barber chair and you can sit down, you can talk, you don't have to talk, it's up to you and you know we can have a coffee. The mobile van is built in retro-style to resemble an old-fashioned barbershop. The project was made possible by a US$70,000 Queensland Government grant and support from local sponsors.
