The Zhuang ethnic people in southern China, which is largely known as a singing people, held a song festival recently, and artists from France went and sang with them. Here's a look. They sing not just for the sake of singing, the Zhuang people sing to blind date, to accompany folk dances, to punctuate folk games, and to spice up local cuisine. Zhuang singing has already become a national heritage feat. The Zhuang people are seen singing loud again on Wednesday, March 29, one day before the official start of the Zhuang Song Festival or San Yue San Festival, which in Chinese means the third day of the third month in the Chinese lunar calendar. The Zhuangs are not the only people observing the Double Third festival. The Han, Yao, Miao and Dong ethnic peoples in the autonomous region also celebrate the festival with their respective rituals. In all, 27 million people of various ethnic groups celebrate the San Yue San festival annually. The San Yue San festival or rather the March the Third Singing is captivating ears from far and wide. This year, over 60 French artists have arrived at the singing festival to hear it all out. ==GUY GIRARD, French artist== And China is a country boasting a very ancient culture, and is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. And that's very valuable for us artists. In addition to singing songs in antiphonal style, they also make five-colored sticky rice, color eggs, do bamboo pole dancing, fight for firecracker and hold other activities for celebration. The "San Yue San" festival, which falls on Thursday, March 30 this year, can be traced back to hundreds of years ago and evolves from the Shangsi County Festival in honor of the Yellow Emperor, whom the Chinese regards as the founder of the nation thousands of years ago. The festival has been listed among public holidays by local government since 2014 and included in the national intangible heritage list. TRANSLATED BY:JESSICA OY
