TWO PERRY CLASS FRIGATES TO ARRIVE IN TAIWAN NEXT MONTH|我向美購買2艘派里級巡防艦 下月移交

U.S. State Department have authorized the sale of two Perry Class Navy frigates to Taiwan and the handover ceremony is expected to be held next month. However, the official names for the two frigates have not yet been finalized because DPP legislators did not approve the previous names given by the Ma administration. The two decommissioned U.S. Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates purchased by the ROC navy will be transferred to Taiwan next month and will succeed the Knox-class frigates. Taiwan's self-built Cheng Kung-class frigates were based on the U.S. Oliver Hazard Perry class, only without the passive towed array sonars equipped in the two newly acquired ones from the US. ==Chieh Chung, Asst.
