In response to TAPMC union's decision, Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je said that if they have a problem, they should consult with the related departments first, instead of launching a strike at their whim as a threat against the government.
==KO WEN-JE Taipei City Mayor==
You can't just go on a strike anytime you want, and threaten the government when you know it'll affect the public's livelihood. Enough is enough, don't go overboard. (If the TAPMC really launch a slowdown for three days, how would the city government react?) We will definitely manage resolutely.
TAPMC general manager Han Kuo-yo believes the rate hike had been sprung on them without notice and if the government decides to move ahead with the motion to increase the rent, the TAPMC will be operating at a loss for the next year. Han also says, he will communicate with the union and the city government to delay the increase in rental fees and resort to measures that would not affect farmers', distributors' and people's livelihoods.
