President Tsai adopts 3 retired guide dogs / 白手杖安全日 總統收養3隻退役導盲犬　　　　　　　　　　

Oct 15 is the White Cane Safety Day. President Tsai Ing-wen announced that she has adopted three retired guide dogs. She hopes that her action can raise awareness for the welfare of the visually impaired in Taiwan and help improve the training of guide dogs. President Tsai took over the leash from Mr. Chang, who is visually impaired, and officially adopted three retired guide dogs. Maru, Bunny, and Bella are a welcome addition to the presidential office. ==TSAI ING-WEN, ROC President== I have been waiting for this day to come. I can finally take them home and take good care of them. President Tsai and these three dogs immediately became friends. She hopes to raise awareness for the blind and encourage the Taiwanese to adopt retired guide dogs. As resources for guide dogs training are scarce in Taiwan, there has always been a great demand for good guide dogs. The president of the Huikuang Guide Dog School hopes that people can help out by becoming a host family for dogs so that the visually impaired can enjoy independence and mobility with the help of guide dogs. ==TSENG HAN-LIN, Huikuang Guide Dog Foundation== Out of the 20 adopters, 17 or 18 of them would like to adopt healthy retired guide dogs. ==TSAI ING-WEN, ROC President== I think people are less inclined to adopt older dogs. However, in my experience, these three are so adorable and sweet. They are trained guide dogs, so they are well behaved. Oct 15 was the centennial celebration of guide dogs, as well as the White Cane Safety Day. Hopefully, under the president's leadership, Taiwan will have a better system for raising and training guide dogs.
