Railway Union to take legitimate days off on Moon Festival / 沒共識 台鐵運務決議中秋"依法休假"　　　　　　　　　　

The Taiwan Railway Union members met with the Taiwan Railways Administration to discuss their work schedule and compensation. The TRA said they will continue to negotiate with the union to work out details. However, the union is not happy with this response because the TRA has not given them a specific deadline. 50 union leaders decided to exercise their lawful right to take days off during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Other union members will wear masks at work to express their silent protest. The Taiwan Railway Union negotiated with the TRA on Sep. 10 regarding issues of rostering, break time, and compensation. The meeting ended at 9pm. The Union is upset with the lack of a specific timetable or commitment from the TRA, and the union leaders decided to take their day off during the Mid-Autumn Festival. ==WANG CHIEH, Taiwan Railway Union President== TRA told us they cannot guarantee that our demands will be met, so we decided that all 50 union leaders will take the holiday off collectively. The Taiwan Railway Union said over 50 union leaders will take their days off lawfully on the Moon Festival. Other staff will wear a mask at work to express their protest in silence. In response, the TRA said the work schedule problem cannot be resolved within a short time, and they will continue to communicate with the union in further detail. ==LU CHIEH-SHEN, TRA Deputy Director-general== Some issues take time and cannot be resolved immediately. We respect the union's freedom to express their opinion and hope that they can understand we have a duty to fulfill to passengers. The TRA said they will respect the union leaders' decision to take Moon Festival off, and they will have a back-up plan to ensure the smooth transportation of passengers during the holiday.
