Former president Lee Teng-hui met with President Tsai Ing-wen. It was the 100th day of Tsai's administration. Her satisfaction rate has fallen but Tsai made no comment on this. When Lee made an opening speech, he mentioned he worries when a ruler has a "winner takes all" attitude and pays no attention to other voices. His comments came across as needling Tsai.
On her 100th day in office, President Tsai Ing-wen's satisfaction rate has fallen to the same level as her disatisfaction rate. On Aug 27 Tsai attended a forum held by the Lee Teng-hui Foundation. She made no comment on the surveys. When Lee gave an opening speech he obliquely criticized Tsai saying that a ruler who did not listen to other voices worried him.
==LEE TENG-HUI Former R.O.C. president ==
A ruler with a winner takes all attitude who is unwilling to listen to other people's opinions,
does not pay attention to different regions or hear the interests of different groups is a worry.
Lee worried that those who had expectations of Tsai would feel that politicians could only come up with slogans and could not govern, that Taiwan's democracy would be lost. In her speech Tsai emphasized that, facing recent labor disputes and economic stagnation, Taiwan was a pluralistic society and the government had to spend more effort in communication and should not be afraid of conflict, in the quest to solve issues.
==TSAI ING-WEN, R.O.C. President==
Since May 20, we have met with many sudden crises. Some of these crises purely accidental, others are due to structural defects in this country. I am confident that these problems can be solved one by one.
In regard to the new administration's emphasis on transitional justice and the establishment of a committee to investigate party assets, Tsai said this was political reform and transitional justice. She said this was necessary and there must be an expanded historical investigation to end the battles, so that Taiwan's democratization was complete.
