A special scenic point on east coast / 鹿野田間"水往上流" 花東縱谷新秘境

It's common knowldege that water flows downhill. However, in Luye Township, an aqueduct caught the attention of many visitors, because the water inside actually flows upward, or at least it looks like it does. In a farmland at Ruei-yuan Village in Luye Township, this long arch-like structure is an aqueduct carrying water. Over the weekend, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau and Taitung Department of Irrigation and Engineering teamed up with local residents for the aqueduct's official opening. They hope this unique bridge will become a new scenic attraction. ==WANG, ZHI-HUEI, Taitung Branch Director of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau== When we first finished its basic structure, we started to think how to make it unique. Many years ago the aqueduct used to be an irrigation ditch. After reconstruction, it has become more beautiful, and wildlife can pass underneath. Rice fields in the East Rift Valley are now flowering and filled with tassels. The aqueduct was built as an irrigation source but has now become a new point of interest for visitors.
