KMT Pingtung Magistrate Candidate Asks for Recount 蘇清泉對計票提質疑 法院遞狀要求驗票

Pingtung's candidate for county magistrate, KMT's Su Ching-chuan lost the election and decided to initiate a recount and file a suit to invalidate the result.

Supporters came to the Pingtung District Court early in the morning to support Su Ching-chuan, the KMT candidate for Pingtung county magistrate. The election in Pingtung was fierce this time. The elected DPP candidate Chou Chun-mi collected more than 217,000 votes, while Su tallied about 206,000 votes. The difference between the two was about 11,000 votes. However, Su's team questioned that while Pingtung County's population is not high, the speed of vote counting was very slow, and the number of votes tallied for each candidate constantly changed. They filed a complaint in court, asking evidence be preserved and a re-inspection of the ballots.

Su Ching-chuan, Pingtung County Magistrate Candidate (KMT): “New Taipei City had more than 2 million ballots and only took two and a half hours to count. We only have about 400,000 ballots, which took longer than five hours to tally.”

Su emphasized that he is not afraid of losing, but should lose cleanly. He could not produce evidence at the scene but will hand it over to the judge when he appears in court. The Pingtung County Election Commission expressed respect.

Yang Hsin-fa, Director-General, Pingtung County Election Commission: “We respect the candidate who wants to protect his rights. He has to take care of his own interests. We will protect and store the ballots while we wait for the court's ruling.”

The Pingtung County Election Commission emphasized that vote counting was slow because of Pingtung's large size and six ballots needed to be tallied at a time. The county population's registered voters have not changed. The commission is not sure which figure Su's team was looking at, but it will cooperate to start relevant procedures.

支持者一早來到屏東地院，聲援國民黨屏東縣長候選人蘇清泉。這次屏東選情激烈，當選的民進黨候選人周春米拿下21萬7千多票，蘇清泉拿到20萬6千多票，2人相差1萬1千票，但蘇清泉團隊質疑屏東縣人口數不高，開票速度卻很慢，以及公告投票人數不斷變動等現象恐影響結果，向屏東地院遞狀提告，要求保全證據、重新驗票。

國民黨屏東縣長候選人蘇清泉回應：「新北市2百多萬張選票，2個半小時開得乾乾淨淨，我們才40來萬張票，40幾萬張出頭，我們開了5個小時還沒開完。」

蘇清泉強調自己不怕輸，但要輸的清清白白，才會提告。但現場無法出示證據，會在出庭時交給法官，而屏東縣選委會也表示尊重。

屏東縣選委會總幹事楊新發表示：「候選人他要保全，他要兼顧他的權益，我們尊重他的做法。那我們這邊會把選票把它放好，要把它顧好，然後等待法院那邊的裁定。」

屏東縣選委會強調，蘇清泉團隊質疑的開票慢，是因為屏東幅員廣大，加上一次要開6張票，但跟歷來開票速度相比並沒有比較慢。而投票人數變動的部份，全縣總選舉人口數沒有變過，不確定對方看的是哪種數字，但會配合啟動相關程序。
