台鐵台中站12台新型售票機  一度僅4台能用 Only 4 out of 12 new automatic machines remain functioning in TRA Taichung Station

Travelers also have some troubles operating new ticket machines. Taiwan Railway says they had the problem fixed by 10 am on September 27.

Presenter: Taiwan Railways replaced its automatic ticket machines in 38 stations in July, but a passenger discovered that eight of Taichung Station's 12 new automatic ticket machines were out of order. The management admitted there are still some software kinks that need working out.

Taiwan Railways launched automatic ticket machines in mid-July. However, travelers say most of the machines are usually out of order.

Citizen 1:”How do I buy a ticket? I don't know how. (You don't know how to work this?) No, I don't.”

In theory, travelers can use the machines to pick up tickets, purchase tickets, and get refunds for tickets. On the evening of the 26th, a traveler noticed that eight of 12 machines at Taichung Station were out of order. The traveler posted about this on social media and many unhappy travelers soon chimed in with complaints about the new machines.

Citizen 2:” There are more choices. Yeah, usually it's just from A to B. It's really easy in other countries. You just press a button. It took me a while to figure out how this works. It's not easy. (You had to think about it for a long time?) Yes. I couldn't figure out how to buy a ticket.”

Taiwan Railways' Taichung Station says the machines have to be processed in order of payment daily and they are rebooted at midnight. In addition, Taiwan Railways is still trying to work out software kinks. All of Taichung Station's machines were back up and running by 10 a.m. Taiwan Railways says it is trying to determine if any other 37 stations with 144 new machines are experiencing similar issues.

台鐵汰換舊型自動售票機，將取票、售票、退票三項功能合一，新機器登場讓人耳目一新，台鐵局當時還大動作開箱。不過26號傍晚6點鐘左右，有民眾發現，台中站一整排12台售票機，同時有8台暫停服務，只剩下4台繼續運作，引起民眾在地方社群議論紛紛，而新機器操作使用似乎也有問題。

民眾：「選擇比較多，對，通常就是A地到B地，在國外很簡單，按一按就可以。這台我剛想了一下，很難。(想比較久)對，不知道怎麼買。」

台鐵台中站表示，售票機台每天需依序結帳，得停機到午夜12點後重新開機，加上新機軟硬體測試磨合，才會出現暫停服務的狀況。台鐵台中站自動售票機上午10點已全面恢復營運，由於目前全台有38個車站、144台新式自動售票機上線，其他機台是否有類似問題浮現，台鐵還在清查當中。
