Schools across the island switched to remote learning on May 19. The Kaohsiung City Education Bureau is supplying tablets to disadvantaged and rural students. Some schools also opened their computer rooms to students that don't have access to the internet or parental supervision at home.

To prevent remote learning from affecting the educational rights of disadvantaged or rural students, the Kaohsiung City Education Bureau has asked schools to tally the number of students that require hardware. On the morning of May 19, tablets were loaded onto trucks for delivery.
We are delivering 3,282 tablets via three trucks today. The farthest delivery will be to Namasia.
The first delivery stop was at Lingya Junior High School, which applied for 200 tablets. The school also opened its computer room to students that don't have internet or broadband at home.

但為了避免遠距教學影響偏鄉或弱勢學生受教權，高市教育局請各校統計有設備需求的人數，19號一大早，將一台台平板裝上貨車，準備送去學校給有需要的學生。
高雄市英明國中校長 徐東弘表示：「預計配送的平板數，是3282部。今天預計出動的車次，會有3部的車子，最遠的會送到那瑪夏。」
配送第一站來到苓雅國中，該校申請200台平板，另外有學生家裡沒網路或頻寬不夠，國中也開放電腦教室讓學生上課。
高雄市苓雅國中校長 洪杏杰表示：「學校還是有開放電腦教室，讓這些沒有網路教學設備的孩子，對他的學習不會間斷。」
另外，像林園區的金潭國小，雖學生都有上網設備，但校方也表示會密切注意學生狀況，提供協助。
高雄金潭國小教務主任 張晃賓表示：「學校所有的老師跟行政人員，都有到校上班。所以每天老師都會跟小朋友確認，回報相關的狀況。」
遠距教學第一天，校園內空蕩蕩，學生跟老師都還在習慣新的上課方式，也希望疫情趕快控制下來，讓他們盡早恢復正常教學。
