I always took the underground passage to the rear station. After you descended, there was a long corridor and the walls were decorated with children's drawings. I thought that symbolized Tainan pretty well.
I heard the news yesterday that it's going to be demolished, which filled me with sadness. I came to take a photo to remember it. After all, I used it for so many years. However, urban renewal and construction are also important.
The rear station was built in 1977 and was centrally located next to National Cheng Kung University and several department stores. Many commuters have fond memories of the station. The rear station had to be demolished in order to construct a diaphragm wall as part of the project to relocate the railway underground. A temporary new rear station was opened on April 8.
The old station happened to be at the location of the diaphragm wall, so it had to be torn down as part of the project to relocate the railway underground. A new underground station is scheduled to be completed in 2024. When the time comes, there will be a new and complete Tainan Station with first-rate facilities.
Tainan Station's front station was completed in 1936. It remains heavily trafficked, and will remain in use once the railway underground project is completed. It is currently being renovated and the results will be seen in 2024.

民眾 羅先生表示:「以前的後站,都走地下道。地下道走下去之後,其實有一個長長的廊道,旁邊兩邊都有小朋友圖案,我覺得那就是台南的情感。」
民眾 杜先生表示:「昨天知道要拆掉,還滿不捨,還有拍照,就紀念它一下。對,真的,因為畢竟也用了那麼多年,當然啦,都市建設更新也是很重要。」
台南後站興建於1977年,鄰近成大、百貨公司,更是台南的重點地帶、不少通勤台南人的共同記憶,但因為位處連續壁地點不得不拆除,配合地下化工程進度需求,設備新穎的臨時站8號正式啟用。
台鐵台南站長 林煥堂表示:「因為為了配合鐵路地下化的關係,舊站剛好在那個連續壁的位置,所以舊站勢必一定要拆除。預計說113年會完成一個新的地下化車站,到時候就是會有一個很完整,設備很優良的新的台南車站。」
至於建造於1936年的前站,更是民眾通行要道,未來地下化完成後,前站依舊會繼續使用,目前內部也正整修中,預計113年就會以新風貌與民眾見面。
