Chen Jiau-hua Assumes Helm of New Power Party|陳椒華接任時力黨主席 今正式就職

The New Power Party has sworn in Legislator Chen Jiau-hua as its new chairperson after former Chairperson Hsu Yung-ming was forced out due to his involvement in a bribery scandal and successor Kao Yu-ting resigned after serving less than half a year. Chen cited another former Chairperson, Huang Kuo-chang, in saying the party will be present wherever there is injustice.


Kao Yu-ting recently resigned as New Power Party chairperson, and the party's policy committee selected Legislator Chen Jiau-hua to take over. Chen took office on Nov. 17. She is known for her environmental activism, and pledged to focus on 10 core issues. She also quoted former Chairperson Huang Kuo-chang to boost her own morale.

I think there are still many people within the New Power Party, including myself, who still take these commitments very seriously. That's why I want to once again say that the New Power Party needs to be in every single corner of Taiwan where there is injustice.

Chen said the party needs to begin preparing for the 2022 local elections, including gathering grassroots support. She asked NPP councilors and legislators Chiu Hsien-chih and Claire Wang to combine their efforts at the local and legislative levels and start preparing for the local elections.

We need to continue working hard to make society aware of the New Power Party's determination to reform. I am really grateful to Legislator Chen Jiau-hua, and we will do all we can to help.

In the past, some were caught in the storm and some had worries, but I think we will continue to use actions to prove to everyone and show everyone the direction we are taking and our efforts so that they will be willing to fight alongside the New Power Party.

The chairperson term will end in February 2021, and Chen vowed to not only complete the term, but also to do a good job. The NPP also announced several other personnel appointments. Christy Pai was named secretary-general, and five vice-secretary generals were appointed, including Hsinchu County Councilor Lien Yu-ting and Taoyuan City Councilor Chien Chih-hsiang. Chen is scheduled to hold a press conference to announce the details of the reforms the party intends to make.



時代力量前主席高鈺婷日前宣布請辭，時代力量決策會議推舉立委陳椒華接任黨主席，17號正式就職，陳椒華長期投身環保運動，這次接下黨主席一職，將繼續以十項核心議題為工作重點，陳椒華也引用前主席黃國昌的名言，自我勉勵。

時代力量主席 陳椒華表示：「我認為時代力量，還有許多人，包括我自己，仍然非常重視這些承諾。所以讓我再說一次，無論是在台灣的哪個角落，哪裡有不公不義，哪裡就應該有時代力量。」

陳椒華提到時代力量該開始準備2022年的地方選舉，她認為深耕地方是時代力量不可逃避的課題，她也將和各縣市的地方議員以及立委邱顯智、王婉諭請益，結合地方黨部及立院黨團的力量，為接下來的選舉開始做初步的準備。

時代力量總召 邱顯智表示：「要持續的努力，讓社會知道，時代力量改革的決心。真的非常感謝陳椒華委員，我們一定會全力的來協助。」

時代力量立委 王婉諭表示：「過去有一些大家在風風雨雨當中，有一些些擔心。但我想不論如何，我們會繼續用行動來證明，讓大家看見我們的方向，讓大家看見我們的努力，也願意跟時代力量一起來並肩作戰。」

本屆主席任期到明年2月底，陳椒華表示將做好做滿。時代力量也公布新的人事，由白卿芬擔任新任秘書長，另外有包含新竹縣議員連郁婷，桃園市議員簡智翔等五名副秘書長，其他關於黨務改革的細項，陳椒華也將再召開記者會說明。
