Vystrcil Gives Speech at Legislative Yuan|捷克議長中文高呼"我是台灣人" 全場鼓掌

A Czech Senate delegation led by Milos Vystrcil visited the Legislative Yuan on Sept. 1. The last visit by a foreign legislative body was 46 years ago. Legislative President You Si-kun received the visitors. Vystrcil gave a speech, during which he declared "I am a Taiwanese!" in Chinese.


I am a Taiwanese!

On Sept. 1, Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil became the first legislative president from a non-diplomatic ally to address the Legislative Yuan. At the end of his speech, he drew on former U.S. President John F. Kennedy's famous "I am a Berliner" speech and shouted out, "I am a Taiwanese!" in Chinese. This earned him a minute of applause from the audience.

I believe that every democrat has the duty to support all principles that uphold democracy and the people who construct democracy. I am deeply honored that we were able to visit your distinguished country on an exchange as representatives of a foreign legislative body to mutually support each other and expand cooperation.

It's so admirable that President Vystrcil insists on upholding national sovereignty and dignity, so bravely led a delegation to visit Taiwan, and defied threats and violence with the spirit of the Czech people seeking change in face of the threats and promises issued by the Chinese Communist Party.

Legislative President You Si-kun said Vystrcil previously said that Taiwan is an independent and free country and pointed out that both countries were founded on the foundation of democracy. He expressed his hope for future cooperation to create a win-win situation. He also presented him with the first class legislative diplomatic honor medal and a commemorative mallet.

The last visit by a foreign legislative body was 46 years ago. Yu and his wife received the delegation while maintaining social distancing to allow for masks to be removed for the group photo. They posed for pictures for the media, and some members of the delegation used their phones to take pictures of the media. The legislature also set up a special exhibition on the Czech Republic, and invited Vystrcil to inaugurate it.

The delegation had 40 members. After they left, cleaners entered the legislature to disinfect the premises.

The Kuomintang organized a protest outside the legislature 10 minutes prior to the delegation's arrival. The party said it welcomes the visit, and used the opportunity to remind the Tsai administration that Taiwan should uphold the same standards as the European Union and ban pork with leanness-enhancing agents.



「我是台灣人…」

為非邦交國第一位，在我國立法院演講的議長，捷克參議院議長韋德齊1號在台展開國會外交。在演講尾聲，引述美國前總統約翰甘迺迪名句「我是柏林人」，以中文喊出「我是台灣人」，讓場內爆出超過一分鐘的歡呼與掌聲。

捷克參議院議長 韋德齊表示：「我堅信每一位民主主義者，有義務支持所有捍衛民主原則，以及建造民主的人。因此，我們做為國會外交關係代表，能夠訪問貴國，交換經驗、互相支持，並擴大我們之間的合作，使我感到十分榮幸。」

立法院長 游錫堃表示：「韋德齊議長，這次在中共戰狼，外交威逼利誘之下，堅持捍衛國家主權與尊嚴，勇敢率團蒞台訪問，( 展現)不畏強權，引領變革的捷克精神，令人敬佩。」

游錫堃強調，韋德齊曾說「台灣是事實獨立且自由的國家」，兩國都以民主為立國之本，期待未來持續交流合作、共創雙贏。並頒贈給韋德齊一等國會外交榮譽獎章，以及立法院紀念議事槌。

睽違46年，再有外國議長訪問國會，游錫堃與夫人楊寶玉親自迎接歡迎。在保持社交距離下，兩方人員在議場前脫下口罩拍合照，向媒體揮手，捷克訪賓還興奮拿起手機反拍，以及豎起大拇指比讚。立法院也設置捷克特展，邀請韋德齊正式揭幕。

此次立法院接待捷克參訪團與媒體共40多人，陣仗龐大。當捷克團一行人離開議場後，消毒人員馬上全副武裝進場，噴灑次氯酸水消毒。

「歡迎捷克來訪，比照歐盟，拒絕瘦肉精！」

不過，在捷克訪團到達十分鐘前，國民黨團則把握時間在議場前快閃抗議。黨團書記長林奕華表示，歡迎捷克議長來訪，但也要趁機提醒蔡政府，我國應與歐盟採相同標準，拒絕豬肉使用瘦肉精。
