China Agrees to Taiwan's Evacuation Plan|台灣民眾滯留武漢何時歸? 中方同意放行

China has approved several chartered flights to bring home Taiwanese nationals who have been stranded in Wuhan since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Medical professionals will first be sent to Wuhan to evaluate their heath conditions and all must wear protective clothing and masks in flight to prevent possible cross-infection. Individuals that have been confirmed with coronavirus will not be allowed to board the plane.


About 400 to 500 Taiwanese businesspeople, workers, students have been stranded in the city of Wuhan since it went into lockdown amidst the coronavirus outbreak. Finally, after countless negotiations, China has finally agreed to the evacuation plan.

There are about 200 people who are boarding the chartered flight. The Taiwan Affairs Office is being very... I don't know what to say. Some people have already received the evacuation notice and have been told to stand by today in Wuhan.

Taiwan has been preparing for the evacuation. First, medical professionals will be sent to Wuhan to evaluate the health conditions of the stranded citizens. Flight crews, medical professionals and Taiwanese passengers will be required to wear protective clothing and masks to prevent possible cross-infection in flight. They will also be seated apart from each other. As soon as the chartered flight arrives in Taiwan, they would be sent to facilities in northern, central and southern Taiwan for quarantine. The evacuees would be provided with food, health monitoring for 14 days before being released from the facilities. Confirmed cases of the coronavirus would not be able to board the plane.

We hope to bring those citizens who are stranded in Wuhan home as soon as possible. This is the goal we are striving to achieve. We are still communicating with regards to the chartered flight schedule. We will make related announcement once the time is confirmed. The government is fully prepared and there will be no problem in preventing the spread of the virus.

Both parties are keeping a low profile on whether the evacuees will take a Taiwanese or a Chinese chartered flight back to Taiwan, to avoid any potential problems. The government will plan for the next evacuation after the first group of citizens arrives home successfully.

武漢台協會長 蕭永瑞表示：「有200多人，它(台辦)整個操作很…不知道，他們(台人)這個，已經有人接到通知說，今天等通知，今天都是(留在)武漢的。」

為了後續的防疫工作，我方也做好準備，先派防疫人員前往武漢，評估滯留當地的台灣人的健康狀況，而機組人員、醫護人員以及搭機的台灣人，都要穿上防護衣、帶口罩，做好隔離才能登機，而且座位不會緊鄰，避免交叉感染，抵達台灣後，以專用通道，把人分別送往北中南的隔離區域，由專人提供食宿、監測健康狀況，檢疫隔離14天後，才能自由行動，而已經確診的個案，不能登機。

海基會發言人 蔡慧君表示：「希望能夠盡快把滯留在武漢本地的國人，接回台灣，是我們既定努力的目標。至於(航班)時間的部分，仍然在溝通聯繫當中，如果確認會讓大家知道，無論如何，政府方面已經做好很周全準備，整體的防疫措施不會有問題。」

搭台灣還是中國的航班，雙方低調再低調，就擔心哪個環節出了問題，第一批台灣人順利回來後，才會再規劃後續的第二批、第三批。
