Taiwan Ranks 30th in Global Passport Ranking|全球最好用護照 台灣免簽146國排名30

The Henley Passport Index released the 2019 global passport ranking. Singapore takes the top spot in conjunction with and Japan, offering its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a record total of 189 destinations. Taiwan is ranked No. 30th this year and has moved up 24 places in 10 years.


It is estimated that 16 million people have traveled aboard last year from Taiwan. The UK-based consulting agency, Henley Partners has released its 3rd quarter ranking of the world's most powerful passport in 2019. Japan and Singapore hold the world's strongest passport while Taiwan is ranked No. 30th which is up 24 places in the last 10 years.

Taiwan is ranked No. 30th. This index is based on the usability of the passport and its ranking standard is based on the visa-free access or the credibility of the passport.

According to the data provided by the International Air Transport Association, this ranking is based on the number of visa-free destinations. Japan and Singapore have visa-free access to 189 countries and are both ranked No. 1. Finland, Germany and South Korea have Visa-free access to 187 destinations which put them in No. 2. Taiwan has visa-free access to 146 destinations which puts it at No. 30 China is at No. 74.

The most obvious change is the US. We used to have to apply for a visa in order to travel to the US. It is time-consuming. Whereas now we just need to fill out some information online.

Tourism operators think that the reason for Taiwan passport rankings to move up is due to the visa-free access to the United States in 2012. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that there have been 7892 travel emergency assistance cases in 2018, 60 percent of the cases were related to loss of passports. The Ministry called out to the public to use the Ministry's Line account for emergency assistance information.



台灣國人去年出國旅遊人數超過1千6百萬人，英國顧問公司、恒理公司公布2019年第三季，全球好用護照指數，日本和新加坡並列第一，台灣奪下第30名，十年來進步24個名次。

外交部領事事務局局長 陳俊賢表示：「台灣名列第三十名，這個最主要就是，根據護照的好用度，它評審標準有關於免簽，或者是護照的可信度。」

這份報告根據國際航運協會數據，主要以免簽國數量做排名，日本跟新加坡免簽國家數有189國家，並列第一名，芬蘭、德國、南韓有187免簽國並列第二名，台灣則以146個免簽國家，進步到第30名，至於中國則在第74名。

旅行業者 李奇嶽表示：「最明顯的應該是美國，以前我們去辦理(美國)簽證，會非常麻煩，（現在)變成只要網路上，提報一些相關資料。」

旅行業者認為，台灣護照排名竄升，主要在2012年開放台美免簽影響最大。外交部表示，去年協助國人在外的旅遊急難救助有7千892件，其中「掉護照」占六成最高，呼籲國人出國善用外交部LINE，提供急難救助資訊。
