Taoyuan Man Beheads Mother; Throws Head Out Window|中壢子殺母砍頭丟社區中庭 嚇壞住戶

A matricide case occurred in Taoyuan's Zhongli District on Oct. 18. A man surnamed Liang is suspected of decapitating his mother after an argument and then throwing her head out of the window of their 12th floor residence, frightening neighbors. The police say Liang tested positive for drugs and suspect that this tragedy could have been partly caused by the influence of drugs.


Firefighters break down the front door of the residence and police enter with truncheons. They subdue the suspect, a 33-year-old man surnamed Liang who is bellowing and yelling, with pepper spray and arrest him. Three police officers were injured during the process. At around 7 p.m. on Oct. 18, Liang got into an argument with his mother. He attacked his mother with a knife and decapitated her. He then threw her head out of their 12th floor residence into the courtyard below.

When the police arrived on the scene, the body was incomplete. The head was on the first floor, but the body was on the 12th floor, inside the room.

The courtyard was also littered with appliances and other items that Liang had tossed out the window, and bloodstains covered the ground. Many neighbors got quite a scare.

The police seized three knives found at the scene, while the corpse was moved to a funeral parlor to await an autopsy. When the police arrived on the scene, they discovered the suspect's mood was unstable so they sent him to a hospital and tested his urine. His urine tested positive for a class-2 narcotic, amphetamines. The police say Liang was previously found to be using class-3 narcotic ketamine. However, no actions were taken because no laws were broken. The Liang family also had no record of domestic violence or any high risks. The police surmise this tragedy may have been caused by the influence of drugs.
