The Democratic Progressive Party has yet to announce its candidate for the Taipei mayoral election. The party is trying to coordinate between two candidates who want to run - former Vice President Annette Lu and Legislator Pasuya Yao. A proposal is going to be sent to party Chair Tsai Ing-wen about the issue by next Wednesday.
Former Vice President Annette Lu and lawmaker Pasuya Yao are vying for the Democratic Progressive Party nomination for Taipei City mayor. Both say a meeting with the party's election committee on the 23rd went very well.
Come, come. Let's consult, Legislator Yao.
Lu and Yao said they had reached a partial consensus on the candidate recruitment process with the committee.
We hope the Electoral Strategy Committee can arrange a policy forum or discussion on Saturday. We have both agreed to it. It will give us the chance to share our thoughts on city administration.
We discussed it and reached a consensus, which is that we are willing to publicly state our views on the administration of Taipei City.
Lu and Yao will hold a policy forum to share their platforms. The convener of the DPP's election committee, Chen Ming-wen, says the party wants to narrow the candidate field down to one.
They are the two that have openly expressed intentions of running. As of today, no one else has thrown their hat in the ring. (Does the party not plan to recruit any other candidates?) I can't definitively answer that, but this is the direction we're going in right now.
Chen also said he hopes a draft can be submitted to DPP Chair Tsai Ing-wen by next Wednesday so that Tsai can get the draft passed during the party's Central Executive Committee on Wednesday.
