The tourists are lining up to wait for the bus. Some feel that there is nothing they can do about a potential increase in bus fares.
It's alright, but I sure hope the bus fare will not keep increasing. Many believe the current prices are just fine.
Near my living places, the prices for a lot of things have increased by quite a bit. I think this is due to the government's policies.
Professionals in the transport business said that oil prices is one of the factors in a formula on which ticket prices are calculated. They will continue to observe the international oil prices, and if the 95 octane unleaded petrol exceeded NT$30 per liter, the ticket prices for buses running between Taipei and Kaohsiung will see an increase of NT$10 to 20.
There is no verdict yet. Based on our current adjustment mechanism, the price will increase by 3 percent to 4 percent.
The Ministry of Transportation said they will not approve of an application to increase bus fares since the last increase just took place at the beginning of the year. Delivery business association has also applied to increase their prices by about 6 percent, the Highway Administration is currently in discussion about the case.
