TYPHOON MERBOK'S OUTER SYSTEM BRINGS RAIN|颱風莫柏形成 外圍環流影響中南部有雨

Typhoon Merbok, the second typhoon of the year, was formed yesterday afternoon but it's expected that it won't have a direct impact on Taiwan. However, the outer weather systems of typhoon Merbok will begin to drop rain on central and southern Taiwan starting today and tomorrow. With the influence of southwesterly winds and the stationary front approaching, torrential rain is expected for at least 4 to 5 consecutive days starting this Wednesday. Temperatures inched up across Taiwan on Sunday morning, with highs going up to 36.4 degrees Celsius in Chiayi, which is the highest ever recorded in Chiayi this year. The rain which started yesterday afternoon has prompted the Central Weather Bureau to post heavy rain warnings for parts of northern and central Taiwan. Under the influence of southwestern air mass and the Plum Rain front, torrential rain is expected to start this Wednesday.
