FIRST ZIKA-LINKED MICROCEPHALY CASES IN THAILAND|泰兩例與茲卡有關小腦症 東南亞首見

The Government of Thailand confirmed two cases of Zika-related microcephaly on September 30th. The World Health Organization stated these were the first Zika-linked microcephaly cases reported in Southeast Asia. ==DR. Thailand's Ministry of Public Health had stated, they have found two suspicious cases of Zika virus infections, which cause microcephaly or babies being born with small heads. Thailand authorities will continue to investigate, but refused to disclose the locations where virus cases were found. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated these cases are the first of Zika linked with microcephaly in Southeast Asia. Thailand health authorities have confirmed 349 Zika cases including 33 pregnant women found since January. Singapore has 393 cases including 16 pregnant women. ==DR. THANARAK PALIPAT, Dir. Epidemiology Bureau== Last year we tested less than a hundred people, this year we've tested 10,000 people. The number is incomparable. The US Government has listed Thailand, Singapore and other eleven Southeast Asia countries with travel warnings. The alert warns pregnant women to postpone trips to these countries. Thailand's Zika outbreak prior to China's October holiday period, may create an adverse impact on Thailand's tourism.
