Taiwan and Ukraine Need to Care About Each Other: Su 蘇:台灣亦面臨強權威脅 應與烏互助關心
On July 22, Premier Su Tseng-chang called Ukraine a "great nation" and said like Taiwan, it is a nation that identifies with peace, democracy, and human rights.
Ukrainian Student: “We are experiencing war that we should not be experiencing in the 21st century. Under these circumstances, the support of Taiwan's people has been extremely important to the Ukrainian people.”
Su Tseng-chang, ROC Premier: “Next to Taiwan is a very large, brutal (neighbor) that is constantly sending planes and ships to circle around us. They are also always declaring moves (against Taiwan). So, given Ukraine's situation, we feel we should care about each other and help each other.”
Su also drew a comparison between Taiwan and Ukraine both facing threats from great powers and said it's very important for Taiwan and Ukraine to care about each other. He also praised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying his resistance against Russia has won the respect of the world.
行政院長蘇貞昌一早接見在台烏克蘭學生互動交流,談及俄烏戰爭時表示,烏克蘭是一個偉大的國家,雖然和台灣距離8千公里,但因為同樣認同和平、自由、民主、人權,所以是零距離的。
烏克蘭學生代表說:「我們目前正在經歷21世紀不應該發生的事件就是戰爭,在這種情況下,台灣人民的支持對我們烏克蘭人來說非常重要。」
行政院長蘇貞昌表示:「我們台灣現在隔壁那個很強大的、很野蠻的,老是派飛機、船在我們旁邊一直繞,還聲明老是想要動手,所以烏克蘭的情形讓我們更覺得,我們要互相關心,彼此幫助。」
蘇貞昌也用兩岸局勢來比較,說台灣同樣面臨強權的威脅,強調與烏克蘭互助關心的重要,也肯定在烏克蘭總統的帶領之下對抗俄羅斯,讓全世界都欽佩。
