Four members out of a family of five that dined at a steakhouse branch in Taoyuan have tested positive. Taoyuan City's Department of Education has announced that three schools will be closed for 14 days.
The number of cases in the Taoyuan International Airport cluster infection continues to rise. Four members of a family of five that dined at a Tasty steakhouse branch in Taoyuan on Jan. 9 have tested positive, including the mother and three children, one of which is a one-year-old infant. Taoyuan's Department of Education announced that Neili Primary School, Meiqi Kindergarten, and Joy English's Yuansheng Branch will be closed for 14 days. The city government said the Central Epidemic Command Center will provide details about these cases.
Cheng Wen-tsan, Mayor, Taoyuan City: “The students who tested positive attended three schools. The three schools that have suspended classes for 14 days as a precaution are Neili Primary School, Meiqi Kindergarten, and Joy English's Yuansheng Branch.”
The schools and surrounding areas have been disinfected. The department also announced on Jan. 17 that seven schools have suspended classes for one day as a precaution, and learning will be conducted virtually. Some students still went to school to borrow tablets for online learning. Cases attending Chungli Junior High School, Zhongli High School of Commerce and Home Economics, Wuling Senior High School, and Chunghsing Junior High School have tested negative and in-person learning will resume on Jan. 18. Test results are pending for students at Chihping Senior High School, Chiying Senior High School, and Chung Yuan Christian University.
Junior High School Principal: “The school suspended classes as a precaution. This morning, the Department of Public Health will send personnel over to disinfect the entire school, including the areas where the students attended classes and passed through.”
Junior High School Student: “(Why did you come to school today?) I don't have the right equipment at home, so I came to school to borrow a tablet. They said they're disinfecting today, but there will be classes tomorrow.”
Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said there are currently 949 people in the city under home isolation, and 1,405 have been sent to centralized quarantine facilities. Ten community testing sites have tested 28,453 people. As of Jan. 16, 27 cases were identified through contact tracing. The others voluntarily submitted to testing, showing the importance of community testing sites.
桃園機場群聚案不斷延燒，傳出9日到西堤用餐一家五口，媽媽、兄妹，以及一名1歲大的嬰兒都確診。教育局公告，17日新增內壢國小、美奇幼兒園、佳音英語元生分校，停課14天。市府表示，個案詳細情況由指揮中心說明。
桃園市長鄭文燦指出:「學生確診個案，它有足跡在3個學校，這3個學校預防性停課14天，內壢國小、美奇幼兒園，還有佳音英語的元生分校。」
學校和周遭環境清消也不斷進行，另外，教育局也公告17日預防性停課1天學校有7個，採線上教學，一早也有學生到學校借平板回家線上上課。目前已知中壢國中、中壢家商、武陵高中、中興國中個案採檢陰性，18日恢復實體上課，而治平高中、啟英高中、中原大學還在等待採檢結果。
國中校長表示:「學校是進行預防性的停課，也利用今天這個時間，上午衛生局會派員來學校進行全校消毒，將學生所上課所經過的區域來進行清消的動作。」
有國中學生說:「因為家裡設備不夠，所以要來學校借平板，因為他說今天要消毒，但是明天還是會來學校上課。」
鄭文燦表示，目前桃園市居家隔離949位，後送到集中檢疫所1405位，10個社區篩檢站，目前一共採檢2萬8453位，截至16日確診數據有27位是匡列採檢出來的，其他則是自主篩檢，顯示社區篩檢站仍然非常重要。
