PROSECUTORS MOBILISE, BRING IN 50 WITNESSES IN XPEC CASE|檢調大陣仗搜索樂陞.百尺竿頭 約談50人

On Sept. 23, a 130 person team led by a prosecutor started to search XPEC headquarters. Prosecutors summoned three independent directors, namely , the former economics minister Yiin Chii-ming, media celebrity and former Legislator Sisy Chen and former Taipei City Deputy Mayor Lee Yong-ping to the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office as witnesses, along with 50 other personnel. At the same time members of the self-help group of investors petitioned the Legislative Yuan, hoping to force financial authorities and the Chinatrust Bank to take responsibility. Holding banners and shouting protest slogans, investors in XPEC shares protested Bai Chi Gan Tou Digital Entertainment for bidding for takeover of XPEC, but failing to pay the NT$5 billion, causing the stock price to fall, so that investors suffered heavy losses. Many investors said that because they believed in the three independent directors, former economics minister Yiin Chii-ming, media celebrity and former Legislator Sisy Chen and former Taipei City deputy mayor Lee Yong-ping, they bought stocks, expecting to make a profit. They protested at the Executive Yuan hoping that the Financial Supervisory Commission and Chinatrust Bank would be held responsible. ==MR. So we hope that Chinatrust will take responsibility for violation of the contract. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office mobilised 130 investigators in multi-venue searches. They searched Bai Chi Gan Tou Digital Entertainment's office in Banqiao and the home of XPEC's Chief Executive Officer Aaron Hsu. They brought in 50 people as witnesses for questioning. Independent director and former deputy Taipei City mayor Lee Yong-ping left immediately after questioning and did not make any comments to waiting media. ==CHANG CHIEH-CHIN Taipei Dist. Prosecutors Office Spokesperson== Taipei District Court issued 33 search warrants for venues in Taipei City and New Taipei City, for the homes and business premises of suspect Hsu and others related to the case. Apart from Lee Yong-ping, the other two independent directors, Sisy Chen and Yiin Chii-ming together with Hsu were all taken for questioning. Investigators were interested in why the day prior to the Japanese acquisition, the former company CEO Huang Wen-hung who held the position until May 30, changed to a position in the Japanese company and later mobilised NT$4.8 billion to buy XPEC.
