Former President Chen Shui-bian's son Chen Chih-chung and Kinmen County Environmental Protection Bureau Director Tsai Chi-yung are under suspicion of soliciting prostitutes. Kinmen County Magistrate Chen Fu-hai has approved Tsai's resignation, while Chen Shui-bian complained of smear campaigns.

Recently, reports emerged that Chen Chih-chung, son of former President Chen Shui-bian, had gone to a private Taipei guesthouse on Sept. 15 and solicited the company of a young woman. Kinmen County Environmental Protection Bureau Director Tsai Chi-yung also found himself dragged into the controversy. On Sept. 26, Tsai tendered his resignation to Kinmen County Magistrate Chen Fu-hai, who approved the resignation. Tsai said the controversy had caused complications for Kinmen residents and the county government, and therefore he wished to resign. He promised to continue serving Kinmen's residents in the future. Meanwhile, Chen Fu-hai said public functionaries should set good examples, and therefore he approved the resignation. He added that what Kinmen needs the most is infrastructure, and he expects the opposition party will use this opportunity to once again accuse him of "turning green" and discrediting him. However, he will continue to promote his policies, and called on Kinmen residents to continue supporting his administration. In response, the Kuomintang called for the Kinmen County Government to provide a clear explanation of the situation, and questioned if Chen Fu-hai was covering up for Tsai.

The cooperation between Magistrate Chen Fu-hai and the Democratic Progressive Party is very clear. This is not a false accusation. This is very clear. Nearly all of Kinmen's residents understand this issue.

Chen Chi-chung is currently seeking a spot on the Kaohsiung City Council, and there are questions as to whether this scandal affects his eligibility. The Democratic Progressive Party's Kaohsiung City Chapter says it will conduct an investigation if the party requests it to.

The central party oversees the eligibility of (Kaohsiung City) councilor candidates. Therefore, we as a local chapter cannot comment on this issue.

Meanwhile, Chen Shui-bian posted on Facebook that he believes there is a conspiracy in place to make his son ineligible as a candidate. He added there will be more discrediting and alleged sex scandals as the election approaches.
