First in this morning's international news, the Scottish parliament yesterday backed First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's bid for a new independence referendum. In 2014, Scotland already voted against independence but Sturgeon argues circumstances have changed since the Brexit vote and that Scots should not be dragged out of the EU against their will. Yet the UK government said it will block any independence referendum until after the Brexit process has been completed.
