A teenager's family said he was "lured" by one of his high school classmates, who is now under arrest and said he was paid NT$180,000 by the snakehead for every introduction.

The parents of this girl are using their indigenous dialect to communicate with her. The girl traveled to Cambodia for a new job earlier this month, and her parents suspect their chats are being monitored.

Family Member: “I'm worried, because we don't know the situation she's in. She shows us things from time to time, but we don't know much about her life there.”

Su Ching-chuan, Pingtung County Magistrate Candidate (KMT): “The central government needs to be taking action and forming a cross-ministry task force to rescue victims and bring them home.”

Mrs. Lai, who lives in the same village, says her 21-year-old son also went to Cambodia in July and she hasn't heard from him since. She has asked lawmakers for help. With the help of a Taiwanese businessperson, a KMT lawmaker managed to rescue a Pingtung boy surnamed Chen on the 18th and bring him back to Taiwan. Police, meanwhile, identified an 18-year-old man surnamed Lin as a suspect and arrested him. Lin said he got to know someone named "Ah Wen" online and Ah Wen asked him to spread the word about jobs in Cambodia. Lin got two of his high school classmates, including Chen, to accept the fake jobs and was paid NT$180,000.

Chen Chih-cheng, Criminal Investigations Chief, Police Bureau, Pingtung County: “Chen told his family he was moving to Taichung for a new job. He had no idea he was being scammed and ended up going to Cambodia.”

Meanwhile, a man surnamed Lu answered an ad for an administrative job overseas and didn't figure out something was wrong until he landed in Cambodia and had his passport confiscated. He called his mother to ask for help. After meeting with a job broker surnamed Chuang at a New Taipei City hotel, Lu went with Chuang to the airport and got on a plane to Cambodia. Chuang has been arrested and is facing human trafficking and kidnapping charges.
