Student Tests Positive, Taoyuan School Suspends Classes 昨中壢增1學童確診 今校園採檢1800人

More and more schools are becoming embroiled in Taoyuan's COVID-19 outbreak. A student attending Xinjie Elementary School in Zhongli District tested positive. A testing station has been set up at the school to test parents and students.

A student attending Xinjie Elementary School in Taoyuan's Zhongli District tested positive on Jan. 18. The city government announced the school and its affiliated kindergarten will suspend classes for 14 days and undergo disinfection. A testing site has also been set up to test parents and students.

Xinjie Elementary School Student's Parent: “I'm not too worried, because they had been on vacation for five days already. It should be okay.”

Chang Ming-kan, Principal, Xinjie Elementary School: “After we were notified, we strengthened the environmental cleanliness. We already suspended all camps and activities during the winter vacation when we suspended classes.”

The school had started its winter vacation early, so school officials said this case shouldn't affect the school. Around 1,800 people were tested on Jan. 19. So far, 17 Taoyuan students have tested positive during this current outbreak. Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said more cases can be expected. Meanwhile, tests were also being carried out at Compal Electronics' Pingzhen plant.

Compal Electronics' Pingzhen Plant Employee: “I got tested a second time to make sure I'm not infected and won't infect family members.”

A plant employee previously tested positive, so testing was expanded. Workers from other departments then tested positive for a total of three cases. On Jan. 19, all of the plant's 1,559 employees took a second PCR test.

Cheng Wen-tsan, Mayor, Taoyuan City: “The workplace saw an additional case, so we decided to have a second round of PCR tests on Wednesday. We're also handing out two rapid test kits to each employee for two more tests.”

Each employee was given two rapid at-home test kits for two more tests. The outbreak in Taoyuan continues to escalate, and a great deal of effort is needed to stop it from spreading further.

 

校園再出現學生確診，這回染疫的是桃園中壢的新街國小學生，市府緊急宣布新街國小及附幼停課14天，也立刻展開環境清消，並臨時增設採檢站，讓學生及家長前來快篩。

桃園市中壢區新街國小家長說:「擔心是還好，因為已經先放假5天了，所以是應該還好。」

桃園市中壢區新街國小校長張明侃指出:「接到訊息，我們加強環境的整理，因為我們寒假所有的營隊，所有的活動，在我們停課的時候都已經暫停了。」

由於學校已經提前放假，校方表示對學校沒有太大影響，預計19日一整天將篩檢1800人，只是這波疫情爆發後，已經有17名學童確診，市長鄭文燦坦言，或許還會有確診個案，而同樣進行篩檢的還有電腦大廠仁寶。

仁寶電腦平鎮廠員工表示:「做二採，就是怕自己中傳給家人。」

仁寶電腦平鎮廠一早陸續有車輛進出，因為廠區有員工確診，擴大職場採檢後已經有不同部門的3名員工確診，而全廠1559人，19日做第2次PCR採檢。

桃園市長鄭文燦提到:「職場有新增一個員工確診，因此我們決定星期三，從今天開始再做一次PCR檢測。二採之後，那也要發給員工兩個快篩試劑，要再進行兩次快篩。

不只要PCR採檢，更發給員工快篩試劑，回家後要再自行做兩次快篩，確定健康安全，因為桃園疫情不見趨緩，要擋住病毒進攻必須更下功夫。
