The five survivors of the Black Hawk accident were sent to Tri-Service General Hospital for treatment. Huang Yu-min and Chen Ying-chu had more severe injuries and were transferred to the intensive care unit. As both are recovering more quickly than expected, they were both transferred out of the ICU on Jan. 6. Lieutenant General Tsao Chin-ping, who sustained only minor injuries, may be released from the hospital on Jan. 8 at the earliest.
Two of the five survivors of the Air Force Black Hawk helicopter crash, Lieutenant General Huang Yu-min and reporter Chen Ying-chu, are recovering well and have been transferred out of the ICU.
Lieutenant General Huang and Sergeant Chen are both recovering very quickly. They underwent tests this morning and have been transferred out of the ICU.
Tri-Service General Hospital says all five survivors are healing both physically and mentally more quickly than expected. Lieutenant General Tsao Chin-ping, Major General Liu Hsiao-tang and Lieutenant Colonel Chou Hsin-yi have undergone psychological assessments and started physical therapy. Tsao could be released in the next few days.
Although Lieutenant General Tsao sustained only light injuries, he still has scrapes and wounds all over his body that need to be treated. He needs at least a week to heal and remains under psychological observation. We won't release him until at least the 7th or 8th.
The hospital says there is no timetable for the release of the other four patients, who suffered an array of fractures and will require up to one more month of treatment and physical therapy in the hospital.
