KMT candidates competed in the presidential primary presented their policies in the last televised event on July 3. The focus is on economy and energy resource issues. Kaohsiung City Mayor Han Kuo-yu said in a radio interview that he will keep things in perspective when the poll is out. He also stressed that rumors about him leaving the KMT to run for the presidency is not accurate. Another candidate, the former Legislative speaker Wang Jin-pyng called out to the central committee that the party need to be open with poll results and prepare for a coping strategy in order to prevent manipulation by the DPP.
Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu was interviewed by a radio station early in the morning. Not only did he criticized the way the central government handled the dengue fever issue, he had also expressed his view on KMT's presidential primary, stressing that he had always been "passive" in the run for president. Han also said that the speculation about him quitting the KMT as an independent candidate if he did not pass the primary was a fake topic.
So far this has been a fake topic. The result from the public poll is not out yet, the KMT's central committee knows too well that if this public poll is not fair, open and impartial, then the KMT's next big election, including the legislators election, will be affected.
With supporters worrying that he would be eliminated, Han said that he would be calm and relaxed with results of the poll. He had also called out to KMT's central committee that the election would be affected if the poll is not impartial. The former Speaker of the Legislative Yuan Wang Wang Jin-pyng had called a press conference addressing the chaos in the party's primary. He worried that the poll would be manipulated and that the central committee need to be opened with the polling process and have a coping strategy. Otherwise, the same "change Hung Hsiu-chu" incident would likely to repeat itself.
There is a major concern with the KMT's primary being manipulated by the DPP. Some weird and chaos incidents have happened therefore we can expect a weird and chaotic process and result. It is very likely that the KMT would destroy itself.
Wang further called out to the central committee that the party needs to take action. He had also announced that he would be broadcasting live with Han kuo-yu and Terry Gou. Wang did not comment further if he is cooperating with the two candidates. Former New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu thinks that there should not be any private alliances before the primary.
I will not discuss forming an alliance with anyone before the primary ends. I will also not meet any candidate in private.
Former Foxconn Chairperson Terry Gou had gone live with a famous KOL early in the morning, continuing to pull up his support online. He is also preparing for the KMT's final political platform presentation this evening. The presentation will focus on economic and environmental energy issues and will be the key performance for the 5 candidates before the public poll begins.
