Iraqi government forces said that they have retaken the southern parts of the city of Mosul, and are advancing toward Mosul's Old City on the west. 3 years after the city fell, 800 thousand residents have become refugees, while others were kidnapped by the Islamic State. She was kidnapped by Islamic State terrorists. Christina's family were Christians living in Mosul's southeast suburbs. On June 10th, the family finally managed to track Christina down through a network of friends. Children in the refugee camps southeast of Mosul face malnutrition. Many mothers are finding it difficult to nurse their children due to anxiety and lack of food. Camp doctors say that 80 mothers a day come seeking help because they cannot produce milk. ==REFUGEE MOTHER== When the doctor saw (my child) he said that she was malnourished and told me to go to the medical station. I gave her soup, but she wouldn't drink it. It gave her a nosebleed when I forced it down. Baby formula is either unavailable or expensive in war-torn Mosul. One mother said that she could only feed her child ground-up biscuits dissolved in water. UNICEF has begun distributing nutritional supplements in the area. Iraqi government forces have begun an offensive to recapture Mosul. They now control the south of the city and are about to enter the Old Town to the west, which is controlled by the Islamic State.
