DANISH AQUASONIC CONCERT TOOK 9 YEARS TO REALIZE|丹麥水下樂團 奇異樂器創造新視聽

We've all seen a band in action before, but probably less of us have seen a band playing under water. A Danish music group spent years making it happen, and they've done it. Each member plays in a separate water tank, submerged in water. Here's a closer look. Submerged in the water like fish in an aquarium, a group of performers are playing an underwater concerto with custom-made instruments. The ear-grabbing, eye-opening experience is the creation of Danish Music group "Between Music". Their eerie but beautiful aquatic music has been pushing the boundaries of human imagination since 2009. ==SPECTATOR== It gives the feeling of (a story) about another planet (where) people live this way, they breathe through these tubes, they communicate by the musical instruments and unusual voice, over the water column. ==SPECTATOR== Mystery, first of all. Great magic, absolutely exclusive. I don't know what to say.... The Aarhus-based band produces innovative concerts, bringing together music, live performance, visual arts and new technology. The underwater concert "AquaSonic" took 9 years of research and countless experiments before it was brought to stage. It is the first part of a four-piece work inspired by human evolution. ==MARC DE MAUNY Executive Producer, International Diaghilev Festival== It's breaking the boundaries of performance art, this is about water, water is the origin of life, air, breath, creating sound worlds you can only imagine the weirdest dreams, pictures. Breaking new grounds and challenging existing paradigms are never easy, and teamwork between instrument makers, scientists and deep-sea divers have been key to the pioneering project's success. For example, highly specialized instruments such as Hydraulophone and Rotacorda were invented. Proper breathing and new singing techniques were developed to fit the underwater setting. Numerous technical difficulties had to be solved before the performance was finally ready for debut. ==ROBERT KARLSSON, Business Director and Performer, Between Music== You have both the water as a resistance, so you need to physically play stronger, you also need to hold your breath and the acoustic is very different in water, so you have to use science to find exact spots where to place instruments. We're continuously trying to improve the technical setup. In May, "'Between Music" played two concerts in Perm in Russia, one as part of the Diaghilev Festival. They have now returned to Denmark, preparing for their next performances to hold more audience spellbound. TRANSLATED BY ARIEL HSIEH
