TAIWAN INDEPENDENCE GROUP ADMITS REMOVING STATUE'S HEAD|陽明山花鐘公園 蔣介石銅像遭斷頭

Recently the head of a bronze statue commemorating a Japanese engineer Yoichi Hatta at Wushantou Reservoir had the head cut off. Yesterday at Yangmingshan Huazhong Park, a statue of General Chiang Kai-shek had the head cut off. The word ' murderer' was sprayed on the remains. A Taiwan independence group has claimed responsibilities, saying they did so because they want to bring peace to the spirit of Yoichi Hatta . Another statue of General Chiang Kai-shek has been vandalised. The head was removed and the words '228 murderer' were sprayed in red paint. A small hammer was left at the scene. After a report was made, police sealed the area and collected CCTV footage from around the area. ==WANG TIAN- YI Dep. We understand that a small hammer has been found at the scene. The DPP government has been actively promoting 'transitional justice' and erasing the Chiang family's history. DPP legislators have required the Ministry of Education to remove statues of Chiang Kai-shek. New Power Party legislators have also proposed an amendment to the management of the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall. The vandalism is being investigated by police, however, the Taiwan independence group, Chienguo Gongchang Dui which has decapitated statues in Neihu and Xindian, claimed responsibility through their chosen media outlet and on Facebook. It said that this was to bring peace to the Yoichi Hatta, the Japanese engineer whose statue was recently decapitated.
