National Taiwan University Hospital doctor Shih Jin-chung recently wrote a post on Facebook about a 10-year-old heart disease patient nicknamed Chi-Chi, which captured public attention. As a result, even though Chi-Chi passed away earlier this year following surgery, a LINE dinosaur sticker pack she designed became a bestseller as soon as it was released. The net proceeds will be donated to the Cardiac Children's Foundation.

The adorable dinosaur saying good morning is a sticker in LINE's "Chi-Chi's Dinosaur Wonderland" sticker pack. The pack topped LINE's "Creators' stickers" bestseller list as soon as it was released. The designer is Chi-Chi, a 10-year-old girl with congenital heart disease. She became enamored of dinosaurs as a small child, and hoped to be as courageous as dinosaurs. Sadly, she passed away earlier this year following surgery.

She underwent four heart surgeries, including this last one. Balloon catheters were used numerous times, for example for stenotic blood vessels. If catheters weren't used to widen the blood vessels, then she would have to undergo surgery again. We used internal medicine methods several times to help her continue to live.

Chi-Chi caught the attention of the public after the doctor who delivered her, National Taiwan University Hospital gynecologist Shih Jin-chung, shared her story on his Facebook. Many netizens were touched by her story. Her doctors all described her as a courageous and strong girl.

She was very knowledgeable, but she wouldn't say things lightly, making you feel that she was very worried. I think she's worried it will increase the psychological pressure on us, or perhaps on her father and mother. I can only say that perhaps I am still unable to touch these depths. However, I have already fully felt her special personal characteristics.

NTU Children's Hospital pediatric cardiologist Chen Chun-an adds congenital heart disease is fairly common in Taiwan, with an average of eight to 10 children with congenital heart disease out of every 1,000. Of that number, there are 300 complicated cases that require surgery, and five to 10 percent will not grow into adults. Chi-Chi's parents have decided to donate the net proceeds from the sale of the sticker pack to the Cardiac Children's Foundation to serve as Chi-Chi's legacy for all children with heart disease.
