Former Tainan County Magistrate. Su Huan-chih has announced that he will be running for Tainan City mayor as an independent candidate. Su says when he announced he was running for Taipei City mayor in March, he thought there was a 90 percent chance the Democratic Progressive Party would not nominate its own candidate in Taipei City. However, as the DPP ended up nominating Pasuya Yao, the election has became a three-legged blue-green-white race. Hence, in the end, he decided to run for Tainan City mayor instead, and he cares about the future development of Tainan.

The people of Tainan all identify with me. There are no issues from a local perspective. What I care about is their lives and economic and systemic issues that affect them. We hope our issues can transcend blue-green politics and shift the focus back to the lives of the people.

Su says housing taxes rose 81 percent while William Lai was Tainan City mayor, and changes were made to allow the government to go after retroactive taxes for 15 years. Su says the people of Tainan suffered under Lai and he will repeal these measures if he is elected and refund the already paid taxes. Su says the people of Tainan want a higher quality of life and a better living environment and that is why he is returning to Tainan to run for mayor. He says he hopes to create a government that creates benefits for the people of Tainan.
