The latest justice reform committee meeting calls for better press regulations. The committee recommended misreporting should be corrected and media should be penalized for problematic content. The committee also suggested that there should be a reminder that the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The extent to which the media influences judgements, and how to maintain privacy were the topics discussed for five and a half hours in the latest justice reform committee meeting. When convenor Luo Bing-cheng announced the proposals there was a confrontation with reporters.

Media should not be in the police station. During this discussion we watched a video, we feel there is a lot to talk about and there is a considerable gap in our knowledge, we feel it is a bit bizarre, I see that reporters here have an opinion on that, and we will talk more about it later, the mutual relation between media and the justice system and the way that individual cases are covered, the time this case took place isnt mentioned

Reporters present asked about media representatives who were invited to the meeting, saying that they were not in fact representative. In the previous meeting, members hinted that some in the media steal files from the justice system to get news. How the extent of news coverage should be regulated and how people's rights can be protected before they are judged, by the system was moot. The committee feel that there should be a system in place with redress for victims and a clear scope of penalties. They say that reports should have marks similar to government health warnings on cigarettes, reminding the public of the principle of 'presumedinnocent until found guilty'.

Any report into an investigation is noit a decided fact there should be a guarantee of presumed innocence, the media should remind people of this, so that the public know that this is still under investigation
The meeting discussed compensation for victims of reporting of misleading and untrue news, as well as set fines for those who manufactured such reports. However the differences of opinion on this within the commitee were so great that a consensus was not reached.
