RELIGIOUS GROUPS VOICE OPPOSITION TO SAME-SEX MARRIAGE|宗教團體共同聲明 反同性婚納民法

In a statement issued yesterday, more than 10 religious organizations jointly voiced their opposition against achieving marriage equality by amending the civil code. Meanwhile, a new proposal that seeks to allow same-sex marriage with a separate law, as proposed by DPP caucus whip Ker Chien-ming and others, was lambasted by LGBT groups as a delaying tactic and an insincere attempt to appease the LGBT community. More than ten religious organizations issued a joint statement opposing to same-sex marriage be regulated by the civil law. They pointed out the institutions of heterosexual marriage and family are protected by the Constitution; legalizing same-sex marriage shall require amending the civil law, which is to conflict with the Constitution. ==CHU WU-HSIEN, National Religions Alliance Representative== The titles of husband, wife, father and mother will disappear, further damage the structure of family. Those factors are to disintegrate ethics of traditional human relations and family hierarchy. The issue of marriage equality has caught great attentions from anti-gay organizations. The DPP changed its stance as the chief legislative coordinator Ker Chien-ming and some other legislators proposing for a special law. Gay rights organizations chided the wagging DPP for cheating on gays and supporters. ==HSU HSIU-WEN, Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights Dir.== They said they are to propose a special law. Their reason is obvious, they are trying to please anti-gay organizations. Indeed they are trying to segregate gays lesbians. They do not treat homosexuals as an ordinary social group such as heterosexuals. Fighting for their own rights, anti-gay marriage groups are mobilizing a march on December 3. On the other hand, gay right groups will hit the streets the following week on December 10. The issue of legalizing same-sex marriage is heating up social oppositions.
