FARGLORY WILL HEED MUNICIPAL SAFETY REGULATIONS|柯文哲籲遠雄信守承諾 北市依法行政

Taipei City Government and Farglory Group just announced they will not terminate the Taipei Dome contract on the morning of Sep. 8th. However, by afternoon, Farglory changed their tone and stated that there's no legal basis for the city's 7 public standards. Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-Je said on Sep. 9th that Farglory should honor their words, and this is their last chance. Taipei City government will act in accordance with law. The turn of events has again cast doubts on the completion of the Taipei Dome project. Seven hours after the Taipei City Government announced that the Taipei Dome contract will not be terminated, Farglory made a statement saying that the city's 7 public safety standards do not have a legal basis and are in violation of the Government Procurement Act. ==KO WEN-JE, Taipei City Mayor== I hope Farglory will honor their word. They have made promises in black and white. If they do not want to continue the construction based on the blueprint they submitted, they have to change their plan in accordance with the legal process. That's my principle. Ko said this is the last chance for Farglory. However, Farglory still insists that there's no legal basis for the 7 public safety standards since they are just recommedations by a few Japanese experts. Farglory cannot accept safety standards that are not based in law. ==YANG SHUN-CHIN, Farglory Spokesperson== You cannot force a company to follow the 7 safety standards proposed by three Japanese. We will not do that. Instead, we will follow the existing laws and regulations. We will respect the review results by the Taiwan Architecture and Building Center and modify our plan accordingly. Farglory said they will comply with legal requirements but disagree with the city's 7 public safety standards. On the other hand, civil groups have been upset with Mayor Ko for letting Farglory off too easily. They staged a protest in front of the Taipei city government. ==ARTHUR YO Convener, Songshan Tobacco Factory Tree Protection Union== Mayor Ko cannot shirk his responsibility to history. He needs to resolve the Taipei Dome corruption case. If he cannot do that, he should resign immediately. Ko said that Taipei City residents have won the battle and will have a safe Taipei Dome. He also recognized civil groups for their efforts, saying that supervision and strong opposition from civil society allowed the city government to maintain a strong stance in negotiations with Farglory.
