Continuous Focus on Whether Premier Su Will Step Down 蘇揆談內閣總辭 立院會期後總統將說明

Premier Su Tseng-chang arrived at the Chien Chen Fishing Harbor to oversee its reconstruction progress. Responding to rumors that he would step down, Su admitted that he had exchanged thoughts with the president, and an announcement will be made pretty soon.

Su Tseng-chang, Premier: “I thought it was a warm move. Some people just don't have the guts to say it outright in public. It doesn't matter how much contribution one has done, some people just take it for granted. I've had experience with that too, where some people just try to communicate their gratitude with merely a handshake and you feel a tickle in the palm of your hand. It's a very different kind of "thank you," not at all like how the Kaohsiung City mayor expressed it openly.”

Premier Su Tseng-chang thanked Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chi-mai sincerely during his speech, and officials stood up to give a round of applause as if to say farewell to Su. Su arrived at Chien Chen Fishing Harbor in Kaohsiung to oversee its reconstruction. Chien Chen Fishing Harbor is the largest deep-sea fishing harbor in Taiwan, and it has never been majorly upgraded in the 55 years it's been in use. Reconstruction now estimates at around NT$8 billion. Although Su was there to talk about the reconstruction, everyone's focus seemed to be on the possibility of a Cabinet reshuffle.

Su Tseng-chang, Premier: “The President has made it clear that she would make a public announcement once the Legislative sessions are over. I've already exchanged my thoughts with the President.”

Su said he already had a meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen and exchanged views. Su further explained that a cash distribution of NT$6,000 to everyone is now being sent to the Legislative Yuan for review and the government is also currently developing the software for payment distribution.

Su Tseng-chang, Premier: “The Legislative Yuan has to approve the special budget first before we can finalize the 2023 budget. Once the budget goes through we can give out NT$6,000 to each person.”

Su gave a roundabout response to the media's question on whether he would step down from his position as Premier by saying that President Tsai would make an official announcement once the current legislative sessions ended. 

行政院長蘇貞昌表示：「我覺得挺溫暖，有的人就不敢公開出來講，建設再多他也沒感覺 ，也認為是應該的，這我自己都有感覺。那些在私下跟我握手，偷搔手的，沒什麼用。像陳其邁市長公開寫得那麼大篇，那種感覺就不一樣。」

致詞時，突然有感而發，行政院長蘇貞昌感性跟高雄市長陳其邁致謝，其他官員也站起來拍手，像是在跟蘇貞昌道別。上午蘇貞昌實地視察前鎮漁港興建現況，前鎮漁港是台灣最大的遠洋漁港，興建55年以來都沒有重大改建，中央與地方共計花費80億，重新翻修，上午蘇貞昌到場視察推動情形，但外界聚焦在內閣是否會改組。

行政院長蘇貞昌表示：「總統已經一再明白說，在立法院會期結束後，就會跟外界報告，而我和總統見面的時候，有深入各方面交換意見。」

蘇貞昌證實，有跟總統蔡英文針對見面交換意見，而6000元發放進度，除了送交立院審理，也同步進行要發放現金的軟體設計。

行政院長蘇貞昌指出：「一定要特別條例，立法院通過後，我們才能編預算，預算只要經立法院審查通過，就可以發放每人6000元。」

是否要卸任，蘇貞昌沒有正面答覆，只強調總統說過，在立院會期結束後，會跟外界報告。
