Air Force Holds Drill Ahead of Lunar New Year Holidays 國軍春節加強戰備 空軍幻象2000衝場

The Ministry of National Defense held a drill to strengthen combat readiness during the Lunar New Year on Jan .11.

Three Mirage 2000 fighters successively take off. The Ministry of National Defense held a drill to strengthen combat readiness during the Lunar New Year on Jan. 11. The Air Force's 2nd Tactical Fighter Wing, which operates out of Hsinchu Air Force Base, kicked off the drill. The Mirage 2000 fighters carried air-to-air missiles, including R550 Magic missiles and MICA missiles, as they carried out their aerial mission of monitoring and intercepting Chinese fighters. The sight of four fighters completing their mission and returning to base in tandem was spectacular.

Lieutenant Colonel Chuang Wei-po, Chief of Operations, Air Force 2nd Tactical Fighter Wing: “In the confrontation with F-16 fighters, our team members' excellent combat operations and tacit cooperation allowed us to kill all four of the simulated Chinese planes. We also lost one plane in the simulation.”

Captain Chang Hu-wei, Pilot, Air Force 2nd Tactical Fighter Wing: “We shot cannons from our aircraft at the target. We shot rounds from 30mm cannons at an electronic target.”

A member of the 2nd Tactical Fighter Wing was also selected to attend NATO Defense College. There is only one spot available per year. This shows that Taiwan plays an important role in the Indo-Pacific.

Lieutenant Colonel Wu Pang-yen, Dep. Commander, Air Force 2nd Tactical Fighter Wing: “Taiwan plays a crucial role in the Indo-Pacific. That means that of course students from other countries are very interested in the current regional situation.”

The cross-Strait situation remains grim, and Chinese fighters frequently cross the imaginary median line and are increasingly spotted around the northern airspace. The Air Force says it will continue with its missions of combat training and airspace defense so that everyone can have a peaceful new year.

1架、2架、3架戰機，陸續接獲指令快速衝場，幻象2000攀升劃破天際，國防部春節加強戰備，由駐防在新竹空軍基地的空軍第二聯隊揭開操演序幕。掛載魔術飛彈、雲母飛彈等空對空飛彈，空軍第二聯隊駕駛的幻象2000主要執行對空任務，扮演監控以及攔截共機的重任，當4架幻象2000完成任務返場，編隊滑行的畫面相當壯觀。

空軍第二聯隊中校作戰長莊惟博提及：「與F-16型機對抗情況之下，藉由隊員良好作戰的操作及默契的配合，我們是全數將4架模擬的紅軍全部擊殺，我們的戰損部分是被模擬擊殺1架。」

空軍第二聯隊上尉飛行官張護薳表示：「箭靶是藉由我們空中的飛機機砲去做一個射擊，那是由我們飛機內建的30公釐機砲，及我們機砲的砲彈，去做一個電子靶的一個射擊。」

空軍第二聯隊不只操演繳出漂亮成績單，還有官兵獲選年度只有一個名額，遠赴北約防衛戰術學院，與其他成員國交流國際局勢，闡述台灣在印太地區扮演重要角色。

空軍第二聯隊中校副隊長吳邦彥說道：「台灣所扮演的角色是在印太局勢中一個很關鍵的一個角色，當然各個國家的學員，他們對於現在的區域局勢相當感興趣。」

台海情勢嚴峻，共機近期頻繁逾越海峽中線，現蹤北部空域頻率增加。對此，空軍表示，維持戰訓本務，迎接農曆春節，也會持續捍衛領空，讓國人安心過年。
