Strong Winds Topple Tree, Injuring One 彰化颳強風吹倒路樹 壓1外送員.3機車

Typhoon-related accidents have also been reported in central Taiwan, as toppled trees injured passing drivers in Changhua and Taichung.

Strong typhoon winds snap this tree, which is about one story tall, in half. The fallen tree hits three scooters below, delivering scrapes to the arm and leg of a delivery driver. Township office workers clear away the debris. The wind also uprooted trees in Erlin on the 1st, sending them crashing across roads and cutting off traffic.

Local Resident: “It's super dangerous. You don't often see this kind of wind (capable of) toppling trees.”

Yang Sheng-wei, Head of Erlin Maintenance Team: “We cleared away five to six toppled trees today and yesterday (the 1st) and a lot of branches.”

The situation was similar in Taichung on the night of the 1st, with one two-story-high tree toppling and crushing two scooters below. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The strong wind made many scooter drivers nervous to be outside.

Citizen: “The wind is super big today. My hair is a mess.”

Citizen: “If you're riding a scooter, you should be careful.”

With the typhoon approaching, many people are planning to spend the weekend indoors.

 

監視器拍下，彰化市區颳起強風，這棵約一層樓高的大樹被吹倒，不僅壓倒3部機車，一名正要離開的外送員也被壓傷，趕緊送醫。公所人員趕緊到場，也將倒塌的路樹趕緊排除，而外送員所幸只有手腳擦傷。而在彰化二林從1日也颳起大風，路樹被連根拔起，橫倒在道路中央，路過民眾及時閃避才沒有受傷，但也造成交通因此中斷。

當地民眾說：「這個很危險的，要把它矮化，比較不會，遇到這種大風來會倒下來。」

二林清潔隊長楊勝偉表示：「今天跟昨（1）天處理差不多五六件的路樹倒塌，還有就是一些斷枝的部分。」

而在台中市區，1日晚間風勢強勁，而在北區長青活動中心附近，一棵兩層樓高的路樹應聲倒塌，直接壓在2輛汽車上，警方接獲通報趕緊派人警戒我，所幸無人傷亡。而大樓附近因為風切效應，風勢更加強勁，讓不少機車族好緊張。

民眾說：「今天真的是風很大，頭髮都吹得亂七八糟。」

另有民眾表示：「騎車的話要稍微注意，因為有時騎到一半，就是會左右晃。」

由於氣象局預估晚間開始，風雨情況越來越明顯，不少民眾表示接下來的周休假期，還是要減少出門，將颱風影響減到最低。
