The Legislative Yuan passed the motion and approved four grand justice nominees. There are currently 113 seats in the legislature and all four nominees obtained more than 57 votes exceeding half of the votes needed for confirmation. All four will begin tenure as the council of grand justices this October.


Yang Hui-chin, Tsai Tzung-jen, Shieh Ming-yan and Lu Tai-lang have all received more than half of the votes from legislators and that the Legislative Yuan have now agreed for the candidates to serve as grand justices.

The four grand justice nominees Yang Hui-chin, Tsai Tzung-jen, Shieh Ming-yan and Lu Tai-lang have all received more than 57 votes, exceeding half of the votes needed for confirmation. While the DPP enjoys strength in numbers in the Legislative Yuan, the opposition Kuomintang (KMT) criticized the nomination for being politically nominated and therefore they refused to cast their votes.

These candidates are all nominated by President Tsai Ing-wen. The nomination is heavily politically nominated. Basically, they don't qualify, and this brings more pro-DPP tendencies among the grand justices. We strongly question whether the grand justices can remain independent in the future.

Us from the New Power Party have always agreed to decide staff changes with votes.

Legislator from the opposition KMT refused to show support for the four candidates. The legislators said that President Tsai nominated 11 out of the 15 grand justices, which is more than 2/3 of the total members of the panel. Legislators from the ruling DPP, on the other hand, have come to defend Tsai's move.

I believe these (newly nominated) grand justices will perform in a manner that live up to the society's expectations. The review of those nominated is not a review for individual cases. Those from the KMT are still fixated on what these nominees said during the Sunflower Student Movement, maybe they hold personal grudge against them.

Since more than half of the legislators voted yes for these grand justic nominees, all four will begin tenure as the council of grand justices this October.



立法院長 蘇嘉全表示：「決議楊惠欽、蔡宗珍、謝銘洋、呂太郎等四位，均獲得超過全體立法委員二分之一之同意票，依法同意為司法院大法官。」

立法院行使司法院大法官被提名人楊惠欽、蔡宗珍、謝銘洋、呂太郎同意權案投票，在民進黨團人數優勢下，四個人都得到超過立委過半數，57票同意票，獲立法院同意任大法官，不過國民黨團質疑被提名人有特定政治立場，拒絕投票。

國民黨立法院黨團總召 曾銘宗表示：「蔡英文提名的大法官，意識形態非常濃厚，基本上不適格，會綠化大法官，我們強烈懷疑，這些大法官通過之後，沒有辦法獨立行使職權。」

時代力量立委 黃國昌表示：「時代力量黨團向來，我們在人事同意權上面，就是採取開放投票。」

國民黨拒絕替這四人背書，還批評總統蔡英文任期只剩最後一年，應該要節制自己的權力，強調大法官總共有15名，蔡英文已經提名7個，現在又提名四個，已經超過三分之二，不過民進黨立委則出來緩頰。

民進黨立法院黨團書記長 鄭運鵬表示：「這些大法官的表現，我相信都還符合社會期待，所以大法官的審查，並不是對個案的審查，國民黨團還念念不忘，其中幾位被提名人，在反服貿那個過程的發言，他們可能有一些私人恩怨。」

由於大法官人事同意權，超過全體立委二分之一同意，就能過關，現有113席立委，跨過門檻至少要拿到57張同意票。四位被提名人已確定都通過立法院同意，將在10月就職。
