FORMER TIANANMEN PROTEST LEADER WANG DAN TO LEAVE TAIWAN|六四民運領袖王丹:告別台灣 將致力口述歷史

Former Tiananmen protest leader Wang Dan will leave Taiwan later this year after an eight-year stay, and on the 28th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Incident, he said the incident has influenced China to this day and that he would continue to unfold what happened on June 4, 1989. On the 28th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen crackdown, rights activists in Hong Kong held an event to commemorate those who sacrificed in the protest. ==ANDREW TO Activist== It shows that we still have the freedom to express our grievances. What the Chinese government did 28 years ago was wrong. Wang Dan, one of the student leaders back then, stated in his farewell lecture in Taiwan that the incident has continued to have its influence on China. ==WANG DAN Former Tiananmen Protest Leader== If the Chinese government has to make a political transition due to any crisis, the June Fourth Incident would never be left off the table. It is an opportunity for China's future democracy. It is never history. It is NOW. It is also an important key to China's future transformation. Wang stated that however, the transition might occur, the incident would be the past that China must face. He believed that the Communist Party would crumble on its own. ==WANG DAN Former Tiananmen Protest Leader== Politically, it has become more and more corrupt. The Chinese people's discontent with the CPC reflects their discontent with corruption, which is the CPC's own making that will lead to its collapse. Wang has spent eight years in Taiwan. He announced that he will return to the US and establish a fund to help prisoners of conscience and their families in the incident, and will continue to unfold the truth.
